Geek Out Quick Setup Guide

Thank you for purchasing the Geek Out. This guide provides basic step-by-step instructions for setting it up, but if you need additional help, our Customer Happiness team is at your disposal by opening a ticket.

Setup
To get you started using your Geek Out, There are three steps involved.
1. Installing the Driver software onto your Windows based PC. (Driver is only required for PC)
2. Connecting your Geek Out to your PC or Mac
3. How to enjoy music from your PC and Mac.
Step 1
Microsoft Windows

Please note that this driver will no longer support Windows XP and
Windows Vista, To provide better support for Windows 10 platforms.
A driver needs to be installed to connect your Geek Out V2 DAC by USB to a Microsoft Windows computer. The 2.29 driver can be downloaded here.

Step 2
Connecting your Geek Out.
Your Geek Out can be connected to your computer using the USB-A. This plugs into your USB 2.0 port on your PC or Mac.
Headphone outputs can be found on the opposite end of the USB plug on your Geek Out. There is one 3.5mm of .47 Ohms used for Headphones and one 3.5mm 47 Ohms used as a line out of Audio equipment, or bigger Headphones with a higher impedance. The top button (closest to the computer) is the TCM filter, with the bottom button being the FRM filter.
The top 2 LEDs (out of the 3 on top) will light up when TCM is engaged, and the bottom 3 LEDs (out of the 4 on the bottom) will light up when FRM is engaged.
Please note, after a few seconds the LEDs will revert to show the audio format/sample rate of the current/previous audio file playing.
Step 3
Enjoy Your Music
1. Connect your Geek Out into your Computer's USB port.
2. This will turn on the device from the 5v provided by the USB port.
3. Plug in your Headphones using the 3.5mm Headphone jack.
To set your audio output to Geek Out in Windows, You will need to set it as your default device.
Microsoft Windows Default Device Configuration
1. Click the Start button found on the bottom left corner of your windows Pc.
2. Select Control Panel and double click “Hardware and Sound” note: this is in category view, you can select small icons and double click “Sound”
3. Under the Playback tab in your Sound Properties, left click the Geek Out to select this device.
4. Right-click this device and select “ Set as Default Device” This will enable sound to come out of your Geek Out
5. when connected to your Windows based Laptop or Tower.
Setting up for MAC OS X
No drivers are needed to use your Geek Out on a Mac computer. You will, however, need to select the Geek Out as the audio output device.
1. Click your Apple button found on the top left corner of the screen.
2. Select “System Preferences” in the drop down menu.
3. Double click “Sound” under Hardware.
4. Under the Output tab, select the Geek Out as your output device and be sure the Mute button is not checked.
5. Exit out of the menu.
